PurityMap organizes public water-system records so you can inspect them. It is information, not medical, legal, or engineering advice, and it describes a public water system — not the water at your tap. For decisions about your health or your household water, confirm your supplier and use a certified laboratory test.
What these reports are
Each report summarizes measurements that utilities and regulators have already published for a public water system — with the sampling date, reporting limit, benchmark, and source shown next to every finding. They describe the system's record, at the point the utility sampled it.
What these reports are not
Nothing on PurityMap diagnoses a health condition, prescribes treatment, guarantees a product's performance, or certifies that your water is "safe" or "unsafe." A public-system record cannot tell you what comes out of your specific faucet: your service line, building plumbing, fixtures, and how long water has been sitting can all change what you actually drink.
Compliance is not the same as health
A system meeting its federal reporting obligations is a statement about regulatory compliance, not a promise about your personal health. We report the measured value against its stated benchmark and let you see both; we do not translate that into a safety verdict.
If your health could be affected
Households with infants, during pregnancy, or with weakened immune systems — and anyone advised by a clinician to limit a specific contaminant — should discuss their water with a physician or their utility. For a decision that matters, test your own tap through a certified laboratory; that is the only way to know what reaches your faucet.
Treatment recommendations
Filter and treatment suggestions are generated by a versioned rules engine from the published findings and a product's verified certification claims (for example, a specific NSF/ANSI standard for a specific contaminant). They state the concern they address and whether it is a health finding, a precaution, or an aesthetic preference. Always verify the exact model in the official NSF, WQA, or IAPMO registry before you buy.
Errors and corrections
If you believe a figure is wrong, submit a correction from any page; we review it against the cited source and update the page with a visible modification date.
